Orly - Androgynie

Happy New Year! 2011 was both a good and a bad year but mostly good and nothing too terrible happened. I'm healthy, happy, in love, and this time next year I'll be a graduate! Cheers to 2012!

Our evening was pretty mellow, a few friends came over and we played Monopoly. It sounds silly but it was a lot of fun and its even more fun when polishing off a bottle of wine.  :) We popped the cork on some champagne at midnight and sipped bubbly as we each eventually went bankrupt playing Monopoly. I spent the afternoon getting the back yard cleaned up for a bonfire but we didn't end up going outside at all. So, to be completely honest... I didn't have time to put on a NYE manicure.

GASP! I base coated for strength and protection but never got the chance to sit down before company arrived. My plan was to wear Orly's Androgynie with a little extra glitter sponged on the tips but since I didn't have the time I thought I'd show it as a swatch. Really, it's a NOTD but oh well.

Photos are with one coat Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Black Out as a base and two coats of Androgynie. I read many accounts of the glitter sinking to the bottom of the bottle so I let it set at several different angles hoping to get it to more evenly disburse and then gave it a good rolling.  Overall I thought enough of the iridescent glitter ended up on the nails but would have preferred more. It is a shame that the blackened jelly base doesn't let the first layer of glitter shine through.

Wouldn't this look pretty with a blue or purple base, rather than black??

Today has been so nice and relaxing. I slept in 'till noon and it was glorious! Once the semester starts, that won't be happening any time soon so I really enjoyed it.

  1. I had the same problem with the glitter settling...I shook the life out of it, spun the brush around, set it on different sides too. Other than that issue, its still a pretty polish.

  2. It is so pretty and I'll wear it again since it's a black with character, sad that it didn't reach its full potential though.

  3. I have this color. I still haven't worn it. I think I bought it bc I liked the name so much. LOL!

    1. The name definitely roped me in. I love "almost black" colors, jellies, and glitters so I hoped this would fulfill all three. I think next time I'll try no underwear and just let the jelly build up!
