Revlon's got me feelin' Whimsical!

Happy Friday! I'm taking a break from work and reading to pop this little beauty on the internet, well, my take on it at least. :)

Back in December word was spreading that Revlon had put out yet another dupe of a high-end polish, Deborah Lippmann Glitter In The Air. When GITA first hit the scene I was still just reading blogs and not at all interested in considering dropping that kind of cash on a polish so it was no biggie. But you all should know that I have a weakness for the cheapie versions! So out I went into the cold winter to hunt this cheapie down!

At first, sightings were only at Bed Baths & Beyonds and Rite Aides. Rite Aide doesn't exist in my part of the country and BB&B doesn't carry cosmetics out here, so at first, I thought I was just going to miss out. But the polish gods smiled down on us all and I found Whimsical at my local Kmart, the new display was completely full to boot! So there I went, on my merry way, home.... where this baby sat in my untrieds until about two or three weeks ago. Whimsical was next in line several times but never seemed to make the cut.

By the time I got around to wearing Whimsical I knew that I wasn't going to do the sheer look and had to pick out a base color. Several blues were competing, but when I started seeing photos of China Glaze's new spring colors (Electropop) I though Secret Peri-Wink-Le would be a good choice since it closely resembles Electric Beat and I already knew I wasn't going to purchase any of the Electropop colors.

I didn't know exactly how girly I felt like going, since I'm on a pretty harsh "anti-pink" binge, I only used Whimsical for a single accent nail. I could have gone for more nails but Secret Peri-Wink-Le was also an untried. These photos show one coat of Whimsical over two coats of SPWL, and unfortunately I had to do a little glitter wrangling. A second coat of Whimsical could have spared me the glitter sparcity issues, but the milkiness was making SPWL look too muddied.

I will wear Whimsical as a full mani when springtime fully rolls around and it's time for Easter baskets. Because that's what this reminds me of, Easter candy.

I got a few compliments on SPWL, one was particularly interesting, a Starbucks barista thought it was very pretty and matched the sunset picture on my debit card. As it turns out, it also matches the backround of my blog! lol Secret Peri-Wink-Le applied flawlessly and cleanup was also easy, just a simple and beautiful dusty periwinkle creme. It required two coats.
