Mac Faxtor - Fantasy Fire: How's my mind? ...Blown!

It's Saturday, WOOOOooo! Thank goodness, too. I was over this week before Wednesday. Anywho, the weekend is here and that means that along with feeling marginally better (allergies or head cold, I can't tell) I'm working on my laundry (no pants = bad), catching up and getting ahead in reading/schoolwork, doing my taxes, and sometime today another manicure. I cannot tell you how excited I am that I feel good and have a whole weekend to be productive! OH, and Seeester is in town this weekend too so hopefully we'll get to squeak in a movie or some hang time.

Now, here's what you all came for: Max Factor Fantasy Fire! I cannot tell a lie, I completely succumbed to the lure of eBay and ordered this almost as soon as I saw swatches online. I don't have any international blogger friends to sweet talk into hunting it down for me and I didn't want to go and solicit strangers, so I caved and bought it for myself. It has been sitting on my desk staring at me, just waiting for me to play with it ever since. Honestly, buying it makes me feel a bit like a hypocrite for whining about what I consider to be ridiculous prices of designer polishes (Chanel, Dior, etc...). I'll just have to swallow that one and say that yes, I have a hard time paying $20+ for a smaller bottle but if you can afford it go right ahead. It's just that I can't really shell that much out for a single bottle... unless it's "Unicorn Pee" Redux. We all have a learning curve, can you forgive me ladies?

*I should mention also that the price of Fantasy Fire has gone up since I snagged my bottle, unfortunately.*

I decided that since all of the swatches I'd seen of FF had been over a blue, Revlon Royal being the most fabulous, I wanted to layer it over a purple. Since I recently made a Color Club purchase from 8ty8beauty, I would use the most amazing neon purple creme ever as my base. Boy is it a stunner, and amazingly enough these photos do a pretty good job of capturing the true color! At first I was peeved that it looked blue in my test shots, but it turned out well. I opted not to show any swatches of it on its own because it dries (and applies) like a neon, a little streaky, fully matte, and not self-leveling. I look forward to wearing it with a shiny top coat all on its own!

I'm showing you guys photos both under my incandescent lamp, under my kitchen LEDs, and finally a photo I took at work with some natural light - it's the only photo that shows the amazing color shift from red to green. The application of FF was pretty easy, but I don't care for the little brush mainly because it is so stiff.

Just look at this glow, bot the purple AND the fancy sparkles from Fantasy Fire are amazing! Oh, and please forgive the awkward finger posing with the tiny bottle. It was difficult to hold.

Can you believe it! I'm in love <3 Below is the only photo I have with the color shift visible, and I have to admit that I'm completely happy living without Clarins 230. Plus, I couldn't afford it if I wanted. This shift was really visible to me only when outdoors or with natural sunlight. Driving to work yesterday morning was very distracting!

Unfortunately I have to remove this mani today because I melted the polish off the tips of my right fingers when cleaning out the pan this morning after making breakfast. Sad Face. :'( Does that ever happen to any of you? I've done this to myself several times but usually only with a fresh, day-of, manicure. Oh well, I've got a few OPI Holland colors I still want to take for a spin!

    1. It's killing my pocketbook too! lol I've been good and haven't purchased anything since the end of January other than SC Cinderella, but that only put me back .99 cents so I don't feel bad! I'm currently holding myself back from purchasing the CG Hunger Games colors and it's so HARD to resist.

  4. This is sooo amazing! I really want a bottle T_T
I am not too sad because I have a tiny bottle of Clarins 230. I do agree that it looks fabulous with Revlon's Royal. I seriously need to snag me one of these pretties!

    1. Really it is gorgeous, but the bottle is so tiny! It makes me happy regardless, because I had no hope of getting my hands on Clarins. :)
