Toms + Essie: One Day Without Shoes

Good morning and happy Tuesday! I'm not feeling well, my sinus is in full on rebellion mode and I'm pretty much crippled when I can't breathe. I hope every one's Easter weekend was lovely, we went to my parent's for a late lunch/early dinner and it was a nice relaxing day. Even Monday was pretty awesome, I got my graduation issues squared away AND I found out I landed a killer internship over the summer so I'm super excited. :)

Today I'm going to show you a limited edition Essie polish - Barefoot in Blue - which was released in conjunction with a TOMS promotion, One Day Without Shoes. I learned of the event via Facebook and signed up/pledged to go without shoes today in order to raise awareness of the countless children that go without shoes across the globe.

To be honest, I think I forgot about it until I received a package in the mail with this little gem inside:

Essie - Barefoot in Blue

What a beautiful shade of blue! Needless to say, this went straightaway on to my little toesies and I love it.

Here is the card that came in the package with the polish:

And now, please don't judge... here are my toes, all decked out in Barefoot in Blue. I don't know why one foot looks smaller than the other, I think my feet were at slightly different angles when I took the photo. I am loathe to post pictures of my feet but I haven't had time to change my manicure since last week. I've been feeling very energy drained and crummy. But I wanted to show you how beautiful this shade is and I hope that if you haven't heard of "One Day Without Shoes" yet, I hope you will go to the website and check it out.

Today should be interesting at work... we've recently had a meeting about dress code issues! I don't think the absence of shoes has ever been brought up though! lol I'll be bringing a pair of sandals in case there are any issues. :)

    1. Aww, sorry you didn't get a bottle! It has drugstore stickers on it so maybe you'll luck out and find it at CVS, Walgreens, or Target. This shade is kind of a chameleon, it looks a lot more saturated in these photos and in certain lights than it really is. It's more dusty but I still think it's beautiful though!

  2. I think it may be a dupe of Lapis of Luxury. I was so psyched when I got this in the mail too. Cosmopolitan just had a similar giveaway for another Essie polish so I hope I got that one too. I will have to wait to find out.

How did it go at work? We used to have so many dress code issues at my old job, and I always hated talking to people about it. Probably the most uncomfortable was having to tell an employee that his hygiene was lacking and that he had to bathe more often and wash his clothes. I am not joking...it's so hard to do that in a tactful and gentle manner. But this guy would pick his teeth and ears in front of me during meetings. Ugh...I felt bad for him but not bad enough to not fire him. I am so glad I don't work there anymore.

    1. I had next to no interaction at work today but no one said anything! Other things on their minds maybe? I think everyone takes their shoes off at work when at their desk that nothing was thought of. It was weird. Luckily all of my coworkers are pretty hygienic and our dress code issues really only deal with casual Fridays, jeans, and logo shirts. My mom on the other hand, she worked with a lady that everyone nicknamed "stinky."

Now that you mention it, it does look similar to LoL. I don't have the shade to compare it to though. When did the Cosmo giveaway go live? I entered just because it's such a strange/interesting shade! What is it, like a fine bronze glitter?

  3. It went live April 10th at midnight. It looks like if you were able to submit your info, you will get one because it now has a "closed" notice. To tell you the truth, I'm not THAT excited about the color from the picture on the website but it's free polish! I also entered my sister in law's info so hopefully both of us will get one. She'll be surprised!
