Happy Monday morning everyone, if you're like me you dread this day every Sunday night. I love my internship this summer so waking up Monday mornings hasn't been that bad lately, but here in a few weeks my final semester starts and my first class of the week is one I've put off for years... statistics. I can do calculus no sweat, but I hate statistics. *shudder* It probably has something to do with how miserably I failed it the first go-round when I was a business major. I had a nervous breakdown at the end of that semester and statistics, along with many other reasons, was one of the straws that broke the camel's back. Needless to say, while I have since excelled at math I utterly loath the idea of spending my Monday mornings in this class. Luckily, soil science follows right after so I have something to look forward to.
Moving on! lol
I decided to join yet another Facebook group in an effort to step up my motivation for doing nail art. Honestly, I love a good solid manicure. Nothing fancy, just a beautiful creme or shimmer and I'm happy. Throw in an accent nail or two and I'm on a roll! But everyone loves looking at nail art, including me. So I joined The Purple Crumpet Fairy Challenge group. It hosts many challenges, including Monkey See Monkey Do, which is what I've decided to participate in! Monkey See Monkey Do (or MSMD from now on) is a weekly challenge that posts on Mondays. Participants recreate nail art inspired by other bloggers! Since most of my inspiration comes from the blogs I read I thought this would be a perfect way to make sure I give credit where credit is due. I can't say that I will be able to participate every Monday, but I will surely try.
Now that I've blabbed on forever, I'll get on with it. For my first MSMD I wanted to showcase one of my favorite nail art blogs, Nailside. Nailside is also one of the very first blogs I started reading when I got in to nail polish pretty heavily. She does excellent tape manis and provides great tutorials for how to replicate her work. I admit, she's also created some polish lemmings after reading some of her great posts. Today's mani is a Cloud Manicure a la Nailside! Check out her brilliant tutorial on this design HERE.
I used three coats of Jessica Cosmetics Barely Blueberry, a surprise gift from Cynthia at Of Life and Lacquer, CND Silver Chrome, and Orly Au Champagne. This is a pretty literal interpretation of a cloud mani, but I thought Barely Blueberry was the perfect sky blue and how could I not put clouds on this!? CND Silver Chrome stands in as my silver lining, because as the saying goes I truly believe there is a silver lining. I'm just an optimist like that, I guess. Or rather, a forced optimist. lol Its for my own health. Au Champagne was the first white polish I ever bought and it really is spectacular, it looks like sparkling snow on a sunny winter morning. Or, a fluffy cloud.
