31 Inspired Days of Nail Art 2012 - Yellow Nails

Warning: This post is chockablock full of all sorts of GAG for me. Today is our third installment of 31 Inspired Days of Nail Art and as you can see, today's theme is yellow. I don't have a thing against the color yellow, in fact, I love it. Its bright and makes people happy. One of my favorite foods, butter, is slightly yellow. Um, hello, butter is amazing. That means yellow must also be amazing. It is, just not on my fingers. *le sigh*

I own a grand total of three yellow polishes, and all of them look terrible on me. Funny how my boyfriend complimented me the one and only time I've worn yellow nails as an actual NOTD. Silly boys, what do they know about polish... he was sweet for trying though. :) The truth is, I only keep hold of these yellows for the off chance that I might need one for some nail art. Coincidentally, I'm doing some today!

For today's yellow nails I wanted to do some color on color stamping, turns out it didn't turn out so well! My base color is two or three coats of China Glaze Lemon Fizz and I stamped using Zoya Pippa and stamping plate LLC-A. I really liked the stamp pattern, a circle with dots radiating from the center outward and shrinking in size as they do. However, once on the nail my stamping just looked like I had weird little yellow basketball nails. Can you see it? Its that dimple pattern. I probably would have enjoyed this look more if the two yellows I used contrasted more. But they didn't and you had to stare up close to see that I even did any stamping. You can see in my photos that under lamplight you can't see any stamping! Not to mention I have major scalded lobster fingers.

In an attempt to improve this manicure without redoing it (I pledge to show all manis - good and bad!) I did a second stamp. At first I thought about doing a Steelers mani since it is football season and I used to live in Pittsburgh, but I was already tired and frustrated so I just went with bees and flowers. I used images from the same stamping plate, LLC-A Whad'ja think?

So tell me, are you a fan of yellow nails? Do they work with your skin? I feel like I've done a lot of complaining about this manicure, but truly I didn't care for it at all. Maybe I went into it with a bad attitude in the first place. :/ I'll try better next time, I promise!  Next up... GREEN!

Please check out the other lovely ladies who are participating with me in this challenge, they're awesome!
