Teal Tuesday - a special edition dedicated to ovarian cancer awareness

Good morning everyone and happy Teal Tuesday! This week is a little different than normal in that we didn't vote on a theme but rather we're doing freestyle teal manicures. September is ovarian cancer awareness month and this Thursday is designated as National Wear Teal Day by the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, so when Missy from Gnarly Gnails was contacted by Teal Toes - an organization dedicated to raising awareness to ovarian cancer - we were all happy to participate this week and help raise awareness!

Ovarian cancer is a silent killer but 90% of women diagnosed experience early symptoms, so knowing what to look for is paramount. If you are worried or concerned for yourself or anyone you know, please check out Teal Toes or the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance to learn more or to donate to the cause.

I got back into town last night and after unpacking the truck and getting lovies from my puppy dogs I sat down for a little me-time and gave myself a manicure! We had a few hours to spare before the rest of the family arrived so I was thrilled to have a little moment to myself to relax and decompress. Last week I ran out of time to do a proper funky French mani before the in-laws showed up so I took this extra time alone to do the design I had planned for last week.  And I really did need that extra little bit of time to pull this off since there are seven, yes seven, colors used in total!

For my funky French freestyle mani I started with two coats of Essie Sand Tropez, the first true neutral polish I owned... And only because I snagged it out of a dollar bin at my local CVS. In person it looks like the perfect nude on me but after taking these photos I can see that it pulls a little too yellow for my skin tone. My French tips were created using my dotting tools and the following teal polishes: Zoya Frida, Zuza, and Cynthia; Essie Go Overboard; Misa Quirky Smile; and OPI Fly. I topped everything off with a thick coat of Seche Vite to smooth out the texture and give it shine & durability since this will be the mani I wear for the rest of the week.

Please take a moment and check out the other lovely bloggers who participated in today's Teal Tuesday, we created an Inlinkz code so that non-TT group members could also join in. Everyone is welcome!
