Dotticures for everyone!

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday! I'm starting to get a little anxious and nervous because tomorrow is my first day at my new job and that coincides with the company starting a new contract that is MEGA HUGE. So I'm not entirely sure what to expect and I'm pretty sure even though I will attempt to dress for the weather I'll still end up cold. I suppose I ought to find some good work appropriate gloves to keep my hands warm since we'll be doing clearance surveys all day. Aside from general anxiety and what not, I'm super excited for tomorrow! Now, to figure out what mani I should sport... Any ideas, ladies and gents?

At the moment I'm sporting a fun little dotticure I did last night while playing with a few more Sinful Colors polishes I bought from the Haute Rebel display I mentioned in yesterday's post (found HERE). I used Mauve, Lavender, and Muse.

I started with two coats of Muse on my thumb index and middle and Mauve on my ring and pinkie fingers as basic underwear. Muse is a one coat wonder and reminds me an awful lot of OPI I Brake For Manicures (found HERE). Its a plummy brown that I absolutely love. It recently occurred to me that I prefer "near-black" shades to just wearing black polishes, there's just so much more character that way - and Muse is the perfect color for my "near-black" cravings.

Mauve is not a one-coater on the other hand, this polish requires two coats for full coverage as the formula is slightly thinner and less pigmented. Also, it isn't really a mauve color if you ask me... but according to my google search and Pantone, this is actually a shade of mauve. Maybe I'm getting mauve and taupe confused, or always pictured mauve as a more matronly pinky-beige color. Anyway, moving on. This particular Mauve is lovely.

Next I laid down some dots randomly using opposing colors and two different sized dotting tools. Surprisingly, randomness is a lot more difficult to achieve than you'd think. This is just an intermediate stage of my manicure that I though you'd like to see since I could see myself wearing this alone as a manicure.

And finally, I added more random dots in varying sizes using Lavender on all five nails. I think it ties the whole manicure together. Plus, I thought I'd show you guys this pre-top coat version since I think the texture of the dots looks pretty neat. What do you think?

Also, this color too doesn't quite strike me as a lavender shade, but another google search and double check with Pantone... this too is in the spectrum of lavender. Albeit I find this shade to be on the far end of the blue spectrum of the shade. Damn, colors are interesting... I want a book of color swatches now!

Oh, and here are pictures of the bottles in case you'd like to see what I was working with: Mauve, Lavender, and Muse.

Well, that's it for me today lovelies! I'm going to spend the rest of the day pretending to be productive but in reality I won't put on real pants until this evening. I will do my very best to enjoy my final day of holiday vacation before staring work tomorrow! Later gaters. <3
