Hi everyone! Today I have another installment of Polish Days and this month's theme is perfect for the New Year - "Something New." There were a few ideas that floated around my brain for this event but I ultimately settled on trying a technique that I've had my eye on for a while, the Saran Wrap or cling wrap mani. I've seen several video and photo based tutorials and it looked so easy I thought this month's Polish Days would be the perfect venue to finally give it a go.
There are a couple different ways to achieve this look, mainly by using the cling wrap to dab on the polish or to use it in dabbing the second polish off. I went with the latter option and recycled yesterday's NOTD with OPI Tomorrow Never Dies using Orly Solid Gold, a matte gold shimmer. So, how did I do?
Here's my mani before I added a topcoat. It turns out that using a matte polish as my accent color wasn't exactly the wisest decision, it just dried too quickly. The quick drying time meant I couldn't achieve the look I was truly after. Oh well, I have a second attempt in the works! By the way, does this look/effect remind you a little of the crackle glitters? I can't quite seem to figure out what this reminds me of... velvet maybe? Velvet paintings?
