Orly Frisky NOTD

Good morning everyone, today's post will be short. Here's a recent NOTD I wore, Orly Frisky, that I'd intended to go under another attempt at a saran wrap mani. I ended up too short on time to play with this though in the end. I love this blue creme even though its much more aqua in real life, its near to impossible for me to get this color accurate and I've tried many times. This is two coats.

I'm sorry to say that I am not sure when I will be able to post again. I'm only posting today so I can feel some sense of normalcy this morning. Yesterday the course of my life changed in a very sad and painful way and I'm not sure when I will be able to set up my computer for proper use since I am moving. I am in a lot of emotional pain so I'm not sure if I can act as though nail polish is the greatest thing in the world in the immediate future, even though it kinda is.

My picks from the Mariah Carey Collection - Liquid Sands + Stamping NOTD

Hi guys, happy Friday! Are you ready for the weekend? I know I am! It hasn't been as crazy for me as last week was but get this, the other night I slept for twelve hours straight. It was glorious. I'm still having trouble adjusting to a "grown up" schedule of going to bed at a regular time each night and getting up in the morning before dawn is just retched. Anyway, to kick off this weekend right I've got this week's NOTD - a manicure I sported for most of the week featuring two polishes from the OPI Mariah Carey Collection: Stay The Night and Sprung.

Here's my finished manicure the night I did it, Stay The Night is one of OPI's new Liquid Sands polishes and the only one that has interested me so far. Stay The Night is a blackened jelly with red glitters while Sprung is a bronzy-coppery microshimmer that strongly reminds me of Jessica Cos. Pumpkin Delight or OPI Pros And Bronze.

For this manicure I applied two coats of each polish, Stay The Night and Sprung, before stamping Sprung with Konad Special Black and LeaLac plate LLC-B.

Pro tip: when applying the liquid sands polishes, I recommend allowing for generous drying time on the first coat. You don't need the first coat to be completely dry, just set up enough that application of the second coat doesn't cause dragging. Those little sandy bits in the polish are what give it texture when fully dry and also what will give you grief if you don't wait a little for drying time between coats.

Here's my manicure the next day when Stay The Night was completely and fully cured or dry. I hadn't expected to enjoy this finish at all but all that says to me is that I should stop assuming what I will and won't like until I try it! This finish also makes scratching itches sooo much more enjoyable! lol The texture isn't what I would call rough and definitely isn't gritty like dried glitter, possibly a more accurate description would be to say that it feels grainy. I love it and can't wait to get my hands on the gold shade from OPI's upcoming Softshades Collection.

Another surprise to me was how well Stay The Night held up out in the field. My job requires that I get down in the dirt and my hands take a bit of a beating (you might notice the scratch on my pinkie finger up above - that came from a rather angry and thorny shrub) and the Liquid Sands held up wonderfully! Also worth noting here is how EASY removal of the Liquid Sands polish was, no fighting of the glitter was required! That right there wins me over no questions asked.

And lastly, here's my manicure after it was freshly applied - before any stamping and definitely before Stay The Night had come close to being fully dry. Sprung is a gorgeous microshimmer that I'll have to compare to the two shades I mentioned previously. Sprung's application was also easy peasy.

Alrighty everyone have a fabulous weekend and be excellent to each other! Its been rainy and overcast here in Vegas the last few days so I plan on spending some serious time in my jammies cuddled on the couch with a fire in the hearth this weekend. What about you, any plans lined up?

Enchanted Polish "Hey Jude" NOTD

Helooooo everyone, how's your humpday going? Ready for the weekend already? Well, if that's what's up I've got swatches of a spectacular polish today that will rock your socks off... Enchanted Polish "Hey Jude." Green has been a favorite color of mine since I was a little girl and this jewel toned holographic duochrome green is IT. The bees' knees. The tippity top of the highest mountain of polish love! Seriously, amazing.

Here is Enchanted Polish "Hey Jude" in all its glory at two buttery coats and a topcoat of Seche Vite. I've shown you two manicures using this polish previously, one in which I used it to stamp with (check it out HERE) and another that featured "Hey Jude" as a stamping base under Sinful Colors Beau Khaki (seen HERE). No matter how much I loved those posts, this incredible polish deserves its very own post so we can all bask in its glory.

Umm, I don't know that many words are needed to convey how awesome this polish is so I'll just let you enjoy these photos in beautiful silence. :)

I'm writing this post as of 9ish pm Tuesday night and I'm bone tired. Today was a fourteen hour day of transects and I didn't walk in my front door until after seven. Luckily for me, my assignment tomorrow is significantly LESS strenuous and I get to start later in the morning. Much, much later in fact. Sleep is beckoning me!

In other news, I made my first Elevation Polish purchase and although I missed two new colors I really wanted I'm still pretty stoked for what I did get in my cart. OH, and I tried out my first OPI Liquid Sands polish today and happy to report that wear is pretty good so far - be on the lookout for that post soon!

Sally Hansen Mermaid's Tale NOTD

Hi guys! How's everyone's Monday, do you have the day off or are you working? I have the luck of being able to stay home today but I am not on holiday pay (that I know of). No complaints though, I got to sleep in today after going out last night for a friend's birthday dinner. Its such lovely weather in Las Vegas this week after a week or so of frigid temps and unusually cold weather. I tell ya, it was no fun getting up at four am and trekking to work in 20 degree weather! I live in the desert dammit, I like it warm! lol

Today I want to show you all the mani sported for the majority of last week, I like to change my polish more frequently but working 12 hour days left me pooped when I got home. I also meant to stamp and/or mattify this manicure but time didn't allow. Boo, I know. But at least we can enjoy a spectacular Deborah Lippmann dupe, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Mermaid's Tale.

Can we all agree that this "name" is a little played out??

Mermaid's Tale is a pretty spot on dupe for Deborah Lippmann's Across The Universe, a beautiful blue jelly packed with blue and green hex glitters. I grabbed my bottle at Target where this particular line is actually "reasonably" priced compared to CVS or Walgreens. I'm not a fan of this line's short, stubby, and wide stem and brush, but for the right color I've caved once or twice. If you believe it, this is one coat of Mermaid's Tale over underwear. The jelly is a great consistency and the glitters spread nice and evenly without dabbing or having to mess with the funky brush at all.

I even managed to sneak a sunshine photo when my coworkers weren't paying attention to me! My polished fingers and the frequency of my polish changes have been noticed and complimented but I'm not quite ready to spill the beans to them about this blog. I have a professional career to develop!

My undies for this manicure were Essence Colour & Go Date In The Moonlight, a dusty navy shade with tiny but bright microglitter... or would you consider it a shimmer? Either way, I enjoyed this polish enough to wear it alone on my right hand while wearing Mermaid's Tale on my left. The price point is spot on, the bottle shape is cute, and even though I don't entirely care for the brush shape the formula on this brand (every color I've tried so far!) is great. Here is two coats over base coat and without a top coat.

Now that I've bombarded you with polish photos, how about some work photos!?

Since my office is basically the great outdoors, I love snapping pics. The desert is gorgeous and the area we're working in right now is two and a half hours north of Las Vegas in the Tule Springs Desert, east of the Mormon Mountains - in case you're interested in seeing where I'm hiking out in the desert. We're doing biological assessments, checking for burrows (kit foxes, coyotes, jackrabbit, tortoise, etc.) and noting the different species of flora and fauna we come across. I love my job. <3

Hammin' it up next to a large Joshua Tree.

Now, I'm off to go enjoy the rest of my afternoon since I've got an early bedtime tonight. I swear, no matter how early I get to bed, waking up at 4:00am is not fun. Btw, I squared up my nail shape when filing them down last week, what do you think? I usually have more rounded corners because square doesn't seem to hold up on me, but I'm liking this length.

Stamping with Enchanted Polish "Across The Universe"

Hi guys, happy Saturday! I'm getting ready to take a soak to ease my weary muscles after two very long days out in the wilderness. It sure is gorgeous out there but man, 12 hour days back to back wear a girl out! Luckily I get this three day weekend to rest up a bit before heading back out there.

Today I want to share with you a manicure I wore right around New Years. I did this manicure probably right after I did my stamping manicure with "Hey Jude," I was in a testing mood and wanted to see if these polishes would stamp well. I love monochromatic stamping and to my great satisfaction "Across The Universe" stamps wonderfully.

I used LeaLac XL plate LLC-B for this pattern. Its far too big for my small nails and reminds me of 60's psychedelics (I'll have to do a multi-colored stamp with neons to show you guys!) but on my nails it looks like rainbow scales!

These pictures aren't the best but they show the amazing color shift of "Across The Universe" as it translates on the nail with this stamping pattern - its just killer! I tried to get a decent outdoor/sunshine photo but failed miserably, these are much better.

Here's my base color, two coats of Sinful Colors Mesmerize  I don't remember what display this was in originally but I got it ages ago, several months ago possibly. Either way, this gorgeous indigo creme applied flawlessly and dried to a very high shine. What's not to love?

So tell me fearless readers, any fun plans for this weekend? We're going to a hockey game tonight and dinner with some friends, BBQ yeah!!  Other than that, you can bet your purdy arses that I'll be zoning out on some Game of Thrones with my Kindle. And laundry... always with the endless laundry!

Clouds with OPI DS Original

Hi guys (and gals of course)! I hope your week is going swimmingly, mine is all over the place. Why, oh why, did I ever think that graduating and going to work full time would leave me with a regular schedule and a routine?? lol My days are as hectic as ever but at least now I'm bringing home paychecks! So, for that I apologize for being so behind on replying to all of your wonderful comments. I'm out in the field all day and don't have cell reception to play on the internets. Bummer, I know. And my computer is a desktop tucked away in a spare bedroom so I end up sequestering myself in with my computer during spare moments I find throughout the evening. I wonder, does life get busier as we get older or we just have more to do?

Today's mani is featuring another one of the polishes I snagged from my mom's place when I was house sitting for her over the holidays, OPI DS Original, a beautiful light purple holo. Look at the beautiful clouds! Well you can try at least, they're a little hard to see with this monochromatic combo.

Look, I got some sunshine!

To conserve my mamma's precious DS I layered two coats of OPI DS Original over two coats of OPI Do You Lilac It?, one of my all time favorite OPI's and purple polishes.  DS Original is an old formula polish and let me just say that this sucker took forever to dry! In fact, it may have never dried truly. I ended up taking it off by the end of the day because going to the bathroom was a struggle all afternoon. No flippin' bueno. Like I said when I showed OPI DS Sapphire (post found HERE), there are so many holos out here I can't see justifying the cost of hunting this pretty down on ebay - not worth it to me. I've got my eyes set on some cheaper and more available holos now that they're out there. But in the mean time let's all gawk at the spectacular beauty I had the pleasure of sporting on my nails.

Look, more sunshine!

So what are y'all's plans for this weekend, anything special going on? Do you get Monday off for the MLK holiday? I might be going to a minor league hockey game on Saturday night, but other than that my goals for this weekend include sleeping in at least once and maybe dusting, if my furniture is so lucky. I know, boring! lol Oh, and doing my nails... definitely doing my nails. <3

Enchanted Polish "Hey Jude" with Stamping

Hi guys! Firstly, I want to say wow to the amazing response to both my giveaway and my blog sale update and a big fat thank you to the ladies who've purchased items as well as all of my awesome new followers across various platforms. I pledge to live up to your expectations and give you all some top notch manicures! Also, I have to say I've really enjoyed reading the feedback I've been getting on what you'd like to see more of here on OUaP... and I can't wait to address everything when I announce winners. Who knew a butterLONDON giveaway would be such a HUGE success!?

Today I've got a stamping mani for you to gawk at using none other than Sinful Colors Beau Khaki (HA! gets me to snickering every time.) and Enchanted Polish "Hey Jude." I used this combo recently to do another stamping mani where I used Beau Khaki as a base and stamped with "Hey Jude," you can check that out HERE if you'd like. You'll have to tell me which combo you prefer.

For this mani I applied two coats of Enchanted Polish "Hey Jude," a coat of Seche Vite, and stamped a neat leaf design found on Lealac XL plate LLC-A using Sinful Colors Beau Khaki. I finished it up with another layer of SV to dry it all up. Its spectacular if I say so myself, I'm positively smitten with this combo. I'm not sure what happened between stamping and adding a second coat of SV though, a sort of wrinkled effect showed up under some of the stamp designs. Weird. No matter, I love it anyway!

I'm loving "Hey Jude" so much that it gets it own post to showcase its insane awesomeness, so be on the lookout for it shortly! Again, thanks so much for the overwhelmingly positive responses and feedback you've all given during this giveaway - you're all so incredible.

On a side note, and completely unrelated, I finished my marathon of Portlandia this weekend... OMG... The dream of the 90's really is alive in Portland! I wish I had the IFC channel so I could watch new episodes. The same goes for HBO and the new season of Game of Thrones that's due shortly.  Toodles!
