The Lacquer Ring - Unicorns Unite!

Good morning everyone, it has been a long time but hello from your long lost nail blogger! I was surprised to learn when I logged in to write this post that it has been almost a year since I last drafted a post. How crazy is that? I guess I'll just have a backlog of posts to share from last summer, I hope you're all ready. Truth be told, the last year and a half has been a crazy ride with lots of ups and downs but things are coming back together again and I think I'll be back to semi-regular posting soon. Soon could amount to a month from now, but hey, I've got to start somewhere.

While I've been in absentia, my very good friends in the polish community have kept me in the loop and we've been furiously emailing each other daily. I mean, we're talking thousands of emails, but these women are the reason I'm back today. I'm talking of course, about Cynthia from Of Life and Lacquer, Frosso from Lacquer Me Silly, Siobhan from For the Love of Nail Art, Amy from The Fancy Side, Nicole from Polish Me, Please!, Amanda from Mae's Beauty, and last but not least - our non-blogger friend, Lesley. She's got a sweet Instagram account though and she shows off her nails there. Wow, look at all these commas.

Today we've assembled to introduce to you our newest endeavor, The Lacquer Ring! Well, the first I've participated in. These ladies have been publishing Stamping Saturdays posts for weeks now. #TheLacquerRing will be a bi-monthly post that follows prompts chosen by one of us on a rotating monthly basis with the first prompt being a color and the second prompt being a design. Since this is our inaugural post for TLR, we're all showcasing Unicorn Bubbles from Candy Lacquer - a gift from Nicole to all of us.

Unicorn Bubbles is a circle glitter explosion in a rainbow of pastels and holographic microglitter, very delicate for a glitter with such large circles. I layered it over an OPI from the Spring/Summer 2014 Brazil Collection, Don't Bossa Nova Me, a soft pink-toned nude that I imagine is flattering on just about anyone. Me, well, colors like this make me look tan... er, pink. (Redheads don't tan, we pink.)

You might notice, that in addition to being gone for ages, I also have a new nail shape. I've gone oval. Even though I've been wearing this shape for a month now (maybe?) I'm still not always convinced I'm in love. I really want almond but I don't know that my nail shape/type cooperates very well with that wish. My nails are growing like crazy though and this nail shape is super strong, I've been doing renovations to my house and not a single nail has broken.

Since this is my first post in almost a year, please forgive the poor quality of my photo, I'm not proud of it but couldn't miss participating in our inaugural TLR post. It's like I forgot how to work my light box or find a decent white balance - ha! Who am I kidding, I take photos with my phone. Also, my dog wasn't feeling well and barfed all over my living room while I was in the middle of attempting to photograph this manicure. What followed was a hasty trip to Walgreens for a medicine dropper and a force feeding of  Pepto to calm my poor Bette's tummy. On that note, I'll leave you with a fancy watercolor rendition of a bottle shot and the link-up for everyone else's posts down below.
